It's never easy adjusting to a tropical December, getting used to sunshine and palm trees and irrepressable grass when your soul is telling you to expect snow and scarves and frosty breath. White lights on palm trees and surfing Santas are still a little off the path for me. However, I think it finally is clicking. Maybe it's because the town I live in is several degrees colder than the rest of the island, because I'm consistently stealing the Boyfriend's supersoft cashmere sweater, because they're once again making that delicious damn Cranberry Bliss bar at the corner coffee shop, because I just heard the songs from Stephen Colbert's hilarious Christmastacular, but it's clicking. I've got that good feeling back.

I've got it in spite of the deplorable financial circumstances, the fact that I have to make by hand almost everything I'm giving to folks this year, the fact that whatever I have to send to the mainland will be late... that stuff doesn't matter right now. I like my job, I like my coworkers and families, I have a great boyfriend to snuggle with, a mini Christmas tree with superhero action figures for ornaments, and my whole family with one important exception, and he'll be visiting in February anyway. I feel good. I feel Christmakwanzukkah-y.
